Biomechanical Assessment

Biomechanical assessment on the knee

What Is It?

A biomechanical assessment examines how an individual's body moves and works while engaging in functional movement patterns as well as physical activity. Dr. LA will perform this type of assessment in order to identify and treat musculoskeletal injuries or conditions. A variety of tests are conducted to evaluate the patient's posture, strength, mobility, joint range of motion, and movement patterns. As a further option, Dr. LA may measure the distribution of forces during movement using specialized tools such as force plates. Any individual wishing to improve their physical performance, avoid injuries, or heal from surgery can benefit from a biomechanical assessment. In conclusion, a biomechanical assessment is a thorough analysis of a person's movement patterns and physical function that can be used to identify and treat musculoskeletal disorders or injuries, improve physical performance, and decrease risk of injury.
